Enrichment programs

Choir 

The school choir is open to all students in Years 4 to 6.  The choir performs throughout the year at events such as,  the Father's day breakfast, Open Evening, Community performances at Dendy Plaza and the Mayflower Nursing Home, the Firbank Combined Concert as well as regular performances at school assemblies.

 

Instrumental studies

Tuition in brass, percussion, woodwind and bass guitar for students from Year 3 to  6  is provided by Red Notes Music.

 

The School Band

Many of our talented musicians become members of our concert band.  They rehearse every Tuesday morning under the direction of  Bridget Cahill from RedNotes music and regularly perform at school and community events.

 

Keyboard and guitar

Tuition in keyboard, guitar and violin is available to all students out of school hours, through Creative Music.

 

Rock Band

The Brighton Beach Rockers traditionally play at the Father's Day breakfast, on Open Night, the Concert of Peers and at school assemblies. They also do an open air performance at the end of the year.

 

Recorder Group

A small but dedicated band of junior school students  learn the recorder. This is a lunchtime activity open to all.

Lunchtime Activity Program

Lunchtime clubs take place on Tuesday and Thursday of each week and are led by our Year 5 and 6 students, with teachers providing support.  There are clubs for all ages and catering to all tastes from sports to arts and craft.  A full program for clubs this term can be downloaded at the link below.

Drama Club

From Term 3 onwards drama classes will be available to all students in the school through the Drama time Organisation run by Pip Mushin.  Classes of 40 minutes duration will be held on Monday for Senior students and Friday or Junior school students.  Download the enrolment form here.

Jogging Club

Operates Term 2 and Term 4 from 8.15am under the direction of  Mr Jack Rosenblatt.

 

Ski Camp

Ski camp at Mt. Buller 4 days for interested students and their families in Years 4, 5 and 6. Students in Year 6 are given first preference.

 

Basketball coaching  available throughout the school year.

 

Netball coaching available throughout the school year.

 

Martial Arts training  available after school on Wednesdays.

 

Student Representative Council  meets regularly throughout the school year. Student representatives are elected  from Years 2 to 6.

 

Library is open to all students to access two lunchtimes per week.

 

Chess Club facilitated by Mr. Murnane and open to any interested students at lunchtimes in the Winter terms.

 

Performing Arts Groups as outlined above:

Choir, percussion band, school band, rock band, recorder group and tuition in keyboard, violin, guitar, brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.

 

Japanese Dance: Taylor  Sensei offers training in Traditional Japanese dancing for any students from Years 3 to 6.
