Japanese

Brighton Beach has an engaging Japanese language program for students from Prep to Year 6.

Reflecting the school's commitment to multi-modal learning, the program incorporates the latest Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) including video, animation, software (kahootz), blue screen (overlaying a background to a video), and 'Actlan' an action-based Japanese learning tool.

Students publish their Japanese skills both orally via video and in written forms. Throughout their seven years at Brighton Beach, they build their knowledge of hiragana script, useful Japanese grammatical structures and vocabulary through topics that interface their own cultural context with the Japanese cultural context.

In recent years we have been priviledged to host Japanse Year 6 students from a district in Tokyo called 'Minato-ku'.  The direct student to student connections created through this experience personalises the relevance of  Japanese language and powerfully contributes to the emergence of the new generation of  global citizens.
