Class Representative

At Brighton Beach Primary School (BBPS) the role of a Class Representative is to generate a strong positive community spirit amongst parents, teachers and children.

As a class representative your role in developing the relationship between the class teacher and the community is to create an inclusive connection between parents and the teacher to support various school classroom activities, social and fundraising events.  In addition, the PA strongly relies on all Class Representatives to enlist the help, services, skills and connections of parents from each class.

The requirements of a Class Representative are to:

  • Set up and collate an inclusive class parent contact list
  • Liaise with the teacher in respect to Parent Association events
  • Seek parental assistance when asked by the teacher to support class activities eg. Swimming, bike education
  • Regularly facilitating communication to the parents of each class about
    • up-coming fund-raising events
    • seeking parent volunteers to donate time to organise and or help at events
    • requesting donations from parents and the wider community such as products, services, skills and/or time
  • Attending and contributing to monthly PA meetings (held at the school)
  • Organising parent social events such as coffee mornings, lunch and/or class dinners
  • Welcoming new parents to the class group supporting their transition and inclusion to the BPPS community

This is a voluntary community opportunity and in the spirit of donating time and energy this role does not encompass dealing with concerns of other parents. Any concerns parents have regarding teachers, school organisation or their child, should be made by them, directly to the Classroom Teacher, Assistant Principal or Principal.

The role of Class Representative is open to any parent who feels passionate, and is available, to be involved in the positive contribution made by the Parents’ Association at BBPS.  This is an opportunity to promote the sense of community enjoyed at our school; a community that works together to achieve the best learning environment for our children.
