Building Relationships

Thank you to all parents who met with class teachers to share some family insights into your children’s dispositions as learners, what inspires them, and what challenges them. Meet and Greets are a mutually beneficial time to build the home/school partnership.

Meet and Greet for Parents

The 2017 Parent Association is beginning to take shape with Deidre Lewis as a very enthusiastic President and Carolyn Atwill in the very important role of ‘New Parent Liaison’.

To provide an opportunity for BBPS parents to ‘meet and greet’ each other, the PA has organised our first social gathering for 2017. ‘Ladies and Gents Who Lunch’ has been featured as a flyer in our previous newsletters and appears again in this newsletter because we appreciate the busy schedules that we are all managing at the start of the school year. This event provides an opportunity for parents to welcome new parents to our community, and to also get to know parents from different classes. Please book your tickets through by 17th of February for the March 3rd lunch. Many thanks to the PA and Carolyn in particular for organising this event.

Welcome BBQ Next Friday 24th of February

Just a reminder to all families of this child centred event so you can lock it in your calendars. PA advertisements in the newsletter have highlighted the food and fun that is part of this very relaxed family friendly event celebrating the commencement of the 2017 school year. Start time is 5.30-7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Class Blogs

This week all level blogs have or will be launched via email (Level1=Prep, Level 2 = Year 1 and 2, Level 3 = Year 3 and 4, Level 4 = Year 5 and 6). These level blogs are a great opportunity to stay informed with what our students are currently learning, will be learning and any other important upcoming events. Thanks for your patience with any technical difficulties that have taken place. Level blogs are updated every two weeks so be sure to check them regularly.

School Photo Day

Schoolpix will be visiting us on Tuesday the 28th of February.  Please mark this in your calendar. Children will need to be in their school uniform with hair neat and swept off their face. Please keep an eye out for your order forms.

Swimming Carnival

Years 4, 5 and 6 celebrate the culmination of the intensive swimming program tomorrow at Tulip Street by participating in the Brighton Beach Primary School swimming carnival. Parents are invited to share the excitement of the competition between our sporting houses: Dendy, Gordon, Grainger and Wilson. Just a reminder that all students are required to swim in swim caps. House coloured caps are available from the office. Go teams! Students will be leaving from school on buses at 8.45am for a start time of 9.30am

Visiting the school between 9am and 3.30pm

We understand at times parents need to drop things off at school eg. lunches, hats. As part of our Emergency Management at all times we need to know who is within our school grounds. This is why our school Visitors Policy stipulates that all visitors to the school must sign in at the office between the hours of 9am and 3.30pm and when they sign in they will be supplied with a badge to identify themselves. So if you happen to be at school as a parent helper, to help set up a parent event or any other purpose, please sign in at the office first so that you are accounted for in the event of an emergency. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that safety procedures are recognised in our school. For more information please refer to the Visitors Policy on our website.
