Principal's News

Many and varied community connections have been made to our magnificent Dreamers. To all our families who were involved in one form or another, the community spirit generated between the two schools is something we can all take great pride in!

As well as being a highly enjoyable and entertaining community occasion, it contributes enormously to building our funds for the next stage of the refurbishment of our main building. So thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to this much anticipated and highly successful annual event. A big thank you to all the Dads who played or contributed and particularly to Ben Robb who organised all the sponsorship and to Emma Liley from school council and Deidre Lewis and the Parent Association who worked in conjunction with all volunteers to make sure this was a successful day. It was also great to see past students managing the scoreboard, many thanks to Jay and Ronnie.

Girls Footy Curtain Raiser

Well done to the BBPS members of the Kangaroos, who played in the curtain raiser to the Dreamers. Although they were playing an opposing team with vastly more experience, their growing skills and knowledge and execution of team strategies was highly evident. They received much positive feedback for their efforts.

Mathematics Teaching and Learning

There was overwhelming feedback as to the success of our parent information evening with Michael Ymer last Thursday evening on the teaching and learning of Mathematics. Many parents have requested that we run more sessions with Michael. A highly engaging presenter he presents very practical ways parents can support their children to become mathematical thinkers through the use of games that can be varied to suit a range of abilities.

What a pleasure it was to host the choir from Black Rock PS and to have our year 2 choir perform with them in a joint school choir. Congratulations to Elinor Cozens, our performing arts teacher, for organising this event and also to the year two team who contribute to the practice sessions. The house singing at the commencement of assembly is becoming a very popular segment with all our students. The Year 5 and 6 students are outstanding in leading this. The 5R’s award highlights student voice and our weekly emphasis on our school values.

Enrolment Policy

Please find the reviewed BBPS Enrolment Policy attached for your perusal. The Education and Policy Sub-committee welcome any feedback – please direct all feedback to Kim Ancrum by Wednesday, 16th August.

Curriculum Day – A reminder that it is tomorrow Friday 11th. Camp Australia is running a day for those families who have signed up.
