District Athletics

Congratulations to all Year 4-6 students who competed in last week’s District Athletics Carnival. Our school was victorious, and brought home the Aggregate Shield for coming first in the district. Some students now move onto the Division Athletics on October, 11th. Notes have gone home already. Thank you to Mr Ancrum for coordinating this event, and to Miss Craig and Miss Braun and all the parents who braved the elements to support the efforts of all of our students.

Sandringham Secondary School

Thanks to the Sandringham Secondary School girl’s robotics team who led the Grade 5 and 6 girls in a session using our new Edison robotics kits. The challenge for the day was to design and program robots to complete tasks within given time frames and parameters. In Term 4, all Grade 5 students will be teaching each other some of the new skills they have gained this term in robotics, engineering and coding

Bunnings BBQ, Mentone

Thank you to all parents who generously donated their time to help run the BBPS Bunnings BBQ on Saturday, 9th September. Organised by Aaron Steel and the PA, we were inundated with sausage requests all day and raised a total of $3300 for our school. Again this money supports our plans for the continued renovation and upgrade of the Main Building. See the PA’s page – thanks to Deidre.

Friendship Lunch

Year 6 leadership teams, led our students in this term’s Friendship Lunch. All students focused on preparing for their student led conferences by sharing their goals.

Kate McKenzie, a grade 6 leader, reflected that students provided a range of answers when asked what they enjoyed learning about most, revealing the diversity across our school.

Other students mentioned:

“I’m looking forward to finding out our inquiry topic for next term” Poppy Stockdal e, 2W

“I like friendship lunches because we get to play games with different people” Daisy Welsh, 2W

“It’s great having lots of different people from different grades together,” Alvin, 2W

“I enjoy working with children from the younger grades because we don’t get to see each other much” Michael Cirillo, 5G

Student Led Conferences

It was delightful to see many students sharing their learning for this year with their families on Tuesday night. Students were proud of their learning and confidently shared their goals and demonstrated learning activities to their parents. Thank you to all teachers for facilitating and guiding students to enable them to celebrate the learning that takes place at school each day.
