Grade 3 iDay Information Evening – Date and Time

Parents are reminded that the information evening for the Grade 3 iDay in preparation for the 1-1 iPad program in Year 4 is on Wednesday 25th at 6.30. All grade three parents are invited and any interested parents with students in other year levels are welcome to come along as well.

Thank you to those parents who completed the Survey re our Year 4-6 1:1 iPad program. We had a 23% response rate from across the school. Feedback centred around 5 key areas: Achieving a balance; maintaining a focus on basic skills; building parent knowledge; parameters and guidelines; cyber-safety and digital citizenship.

  1. iPad usage as a tool needs to be balanced within the learning program, with students co-creating parameters for use in school and at home

  2. Whilst parents accept that technology is here to stay achieving a balance within the program also includes a continued emphasis on hand writing, spelling and mental calculations

  3.  Parents want to understand through practical hands on activities how iPads are included in the learning program and how this translates to home learning.

  4. Parents want guidance with the parameters that can be put in place at home to support responsible use and management of screen time.

  5. Parent information sessions at school on topics such as social media usage and cyber safety.

Sport’s Dress Up Day

Last Friday was a huge success and we raised $442.20 for the Very Special Kids Foundation.

Halloween Disco

This much loved, exciting event is fast approaching and the PA has been busy behind the scenes in preparation. For catering purposes if your child/children are attending, please access the link on the PA flyer included in this newsletter.

Many parents have signed up to assist for the Junior Disco but the PA is putting out a plea for parents of our senior school Years 3-6 to volunteer to assist on the night.

Jobs include, help with security, catering (serving the Pizzas in the canteen) etc. So if you have a child in Years 3-6 and can support this event please go to the parent flyer in this newsletter and access the link and sign up. Adults can dress up too and be part of the fun!

BBPS Community Spirit

Representatives from the BBPS Dreamers Dads footy team took up ‘The Dreamer AFL Legends Challenge’ to complete the 10k run as part of the Melbourne Marathon last weekend. All funds raised went to the very worthwhile cause supporting refugee families. Thanks to Ben Robb for coordinating, from all reports, a very fun filled day!
