Grade 6 Camp

Grade 6 have been enjoying a fun week at Waratah Bay for their annual camp, focusing on sustainability and the environment. Students and teachers are due to return tomorrow, Friday 17th November at 3.30. Thank you to Amy Chisholm for her coordination of this event, and to the numerous teachers who attended and supported the children.

Bike Education

Grade 4 and 5 have begun their two week Bike Education Program. Thanks to all parents who have helped run this program. Students go on their day bike ride next week to test out the skills they have learnt.

Unfortunately, a bike went missing over the weekend. It is white and light blue, and is the brand Giant. If you happen to know about its whereabouts, please contact the office.

Remembrance Day

Congratulations to the Grade 4 students who conducted our Remembrance Day Assembly on Monday. Students read poems, including Flanders Fields, and shared poems of their own about the experiences of Australian soldiers. Thank you to Charlie McIntosh, who performed the Last Post during our ceremony.

Work experience visitors

This week we welcomed back Finn McNamara and Paris Castledine, former students of BBPS, who completed Year 10 work experience with Josh Ancrum this week. When asked about their experiences at BBPS, they reflected:

“It’s been a fun experience working with Mr A because I’m really into my PE and it was great to reconnect after having him as a teacher at school. It’s crazy to think that we only graduated four years ago.” – Finn

“Coming back has been a nice opportunity to remember all the great times we had in sport, the playground and classrooms. Everything seems so much smaller than I remember” - Paris

BBPS Christmas Party

Don’t forget that our annual Christmas party is taking place on Friday November, 24th. See our newsletter for more details.

 Uniform reminder

A reminder that students should not be wearing nail polish to school as it is not part of our school uniform.

Policy Feedback

Attached to this week’s newsletter are three policies that the Education and Policy School Council are seeking feedback on from school community. Please click here to email all feedback to Kim Ancrum by Tuesday, 21st November.

Chid Safe Policy – this policy outlines the school’s commitment to the Child Safe Standards, mandated by the Victorian government.

Mandatory Reporting Policy – this policy describes the roles and responsibilities of the school in terms of child protection, as mandated by the Victorian Department of Education.

Medication Administration – this operational policy has important information in regards to procedures taking place in our first aid office.

BBPS Well Wishes

Kim Ancrum finishes work on Monday to go on maternity leave. We wish her and Josh all the best in their next life adventure, and look forward to hearing of the arrival of our Brighton Beach baby. Emma Baldwin will be taking over as Acting Assistant Principal while Kim is on leave. Kim is due to return in the second half of next year.
