Year 3 Camp

Camp is a fantastic opportunity for children to experience being away from home, providing an opportunity to further build relationships with their peers. At the end of last term Year 3 went to Camp Oasis. See below for some reflections on the experience:

“I enjoyed the flying fox or archery the best because we had to use a lot of aiming and the flying fox was just fun” Ollie

“I enjoyed finding out our cabins, and playing the shoe game” Lily

“I learnt about people from school and being in a cabin helped made us better friends” Slade

“I learnt easier ways to make new friends and about what it feels like to be away from home for 3 days and two nights” Zara

“Camp was fund because we got to do lots of activities and I got to sleep on the top bunk” Charlie

Book Fair

Don’t forget that the annual Book Fair is on next week in the CLC – a great opportunity to purchase some great books. See the flyer in this newsletter for details.

Year 4 Camp

Year 4’s are currently enjoying their three day camp to Camp Jungai, participating in a plethora of activities, including the possum pull, canoeing and first people’s cultural activities. Thanks to Kirsten Braun to coordinating the event, and to all the teachers who attended and supported the students. Students are due to return tomorrow, Friday 19th October at 4.00pm.

The Koalas and Kangaroos from St Peter’s Kindergarten have had a number of visits to BBPS this term, relishing the opportunity to visit our school library, have a play on the Exon playground, and a chance to visit the prep classrooms. St Mary’s Kindergarten will be visited by our grade 4 students later this term. Our official orientation program begins next week, Wednesday 24th October at 9.15am. During this first session, students will work with the current prep teachers, while parents are invited to an information session in the hall.

Incursions and Excursions

Students across the Junior school have already engaged in a number of incursions and excursions this term. Last week Preps enjoyed a trip to Collingwood Children’s Farm, and are soon to receive a visit from the local Fire Department as part of their inquiry focus. This week Grade 1 and 2 worked with Little Woodworkers to problem solve with wood. The experience of designing and making a bird feeder supports a focus on the STEAM curriculum across the school this term.

Student Led Conferences

Please check our parent information session dates and put them in your diary. Student Led Conferences will take place next Tuesday, 23rd October – a compass notification went out this week, with a link to the sign up session timetable.

Working Bee

Our school will be conducting a working bee on Sunday 28th October 9.00am-11.00am. Please come along to lend a hand. Children welcome, plenty of jobs for them to do!
