We are very excited to announce that your 2019 Parent Payment Contributions will be available through Compass next week. Please keep an eye out for the alert.

 Working Bee

We welcome all families to join us for a social get together for planting, weeding, maintenance and clean up around the gardens. It’s not all hard work, we have tools for all ages and abilities so come along and enjoy the fresh air.

Student Led Conferences

Thanks to all the families who joined us on Tuesday, 23rd October for our student led conferences. This is a great opportunity for students to share their learning with you, and celebrate their academic achievements and next steps in learning. Well done to all students for your focused reflections this week.

Brighton Secondary School Band

Students were treated to a special performance by our local secondary school’s band, where band members shared their different instruments and performed a medley of familiar tunes

Southern Metro Region Athletics

Congratulations to Leo and Amy, who competed at this high level with some outstanding results. We wish Amy all the best as she competes at State Finals in the coming weeks.

 ICAS certificates

We have received certificates for Mathematics, Spelling and Writing competitions that some students in Years 3-6 participated in earlier this year. Due to the full agendas of our Monday assemblies, these won’t be presented to students until week 7 (19th Nov). Families of students receiving a credit or higher will be notified via email in the coming weeks.

Year 4 Camp Reflections:

Some highlights from the students about last week’s 2 night, 3 day camp to Camp Jungai.

3 things I enjoyed:

Olivia “Possum pull, sleeping with friends in cabins and canoeing”

Lucy “Learning about aunty’s culture, all the activities like canoeing and possum pull because you had to trust your team mates”

2 things that surprised me

Stanley “Possum pull because I had never done it and the food was really good”

Jack “How fun the activities were and how big the camp was where we stayed”

1 thing I learnt

Jhana “How to throw a boomerang”

Harvey “You can make native soup using soap leaves and plants”.

 STEAM Program

As part of our STEAM program the Year 1 / 2 students had fun and loved the challenge of piecing together their own bird feeder. See below for some student comments.

rcher “I thought it was pretty cool because I got to use drills and hammers”

Ati “My mum and dad were really impressed because I made the bird feeder myself”

Euan “I thought it was pretty nice to make a house for another creature”

Tyler “I liked drilling, hammering and building”

Scarlett “I enjoyed hammering and building from the box that had lots of different shapes of wood”

Jasmine “I thought it was interesting because I made a bird feeder and I had never made one before”
