Musical Soiree Congratulations to all the students who performed at our Musical Soiree this week, and well done to our Performing Arts Captains Spencer Kirkham and Chiara Darby for leading the night. Thank you to Phil Gunter and Sally Wickes for their organisation. It was overwhelming to see and hear so many talented musicians on the night.

Year 5/6 Maths Extension A group of students in Year 5 and 6 began a two-session Mathematics project with Miss Polly Vinetti, Maths teacher at Brighton Secondary College this week. This was an opportunity to further extend our student’s deeper understanding of mathematical concepts, while building our relationship with our neighbouring secondary school.

“I enjoyed working with a different teacher who made us feel welcome” Finley, Year 5

“Before we went I was a bit nervous, but in the end we learnt lots of helpful new things and it was fun” Ben, Year 5

“We learnt interesting things about Pythagoras’ Theorem, and how it only works with right angle triangles” Elissa, Year 6

“We did year 9 Maths and I found it easy once I got the hang of it” Jess, Year 6

Thank you to our parent Community - The Administration Team are thrilled by the overwhelming response to the Compass Pay for 2019 Parent Payment contribution. Transitioning to a new program can be challenging but our BBPS community has fully embraced the seamless technology for payment of the 2019 school fees.

To assist with forward planning and ordering, payment before the end of the year would be very much appreciated.

If you are the holder of a current concession card please bring a copy of your card to the office and complete the CESF application form in preparation for 2019. If you are experiencing difficulty in making the requested payments and would to take up our payment plan option please call Sue on 9591 0888 to have a confidential discussion about alternative arrangements.

Thanks again to all parents that have made their payments and a special thank you for your contribution towards the Voluntary, Building Fund and Library funds.

Running Club - This week was the last week of Running Club. Thanks to Josh Ancrum, Brent Chapman, Nick Duckett and Amy Chisholm for coordinating the morning sessions. Many thanks to the parents in our community who participated also – as tally scorers … and runners!

STEAM Expo - See you tomorrow 2:30pm to 3:30pm for our STEAM Expo. Parents are invited to visit their children in their classrooms to share their learning from this term. You are also invited to visit the hall and other classrooms to see what else we’ve been up to.

Staffing 2019 - After 14 years in our community, we wish Taylor Sensei (Susan) all the best with her country change and thank her for the outstanding work she has done teaching our Japanese LOTE program.

Congratulations to Brent Chapman, who will be working at Toorak PS next year.

Welcome to Paloma Ellis-Vega, who will be working in our prep team for 2019 and to Esther Yamada who will be teaching Japanese.

Next week – As the end of year approaches, there are a number of great things taking place in our school community. Keep a close eye on Compass for more details.
