Welcome back to all our families, and a warm welcome to the new members of our community. It is with great excitement that we welcome our preppies, and the many new students across Year 1-6 to BBPS.
Some updates: We welcome several new staff members to the team – Paloma Ellis-Vega (Prep); Esther Yamada (Japanese); Simone Kennedy (ES), Alan Nickols (ES) and welcome back to Libby Williams (School Nurse – Wednesdays).
Before students commenced all staff participated in curriculum training and development in preparation for the 2019 school year. David Anderson (Inclusive Communities) and Peter Sullivan (Mathematics) facilitated two full days of professional learning. We also thank our school nurses Libby and Kellie for leading First Aid and Anaphylaxis and Asthma training and Terry Morris for leading OH&S and Emergency Management.
Community Awareness – Stranger Danger
Parents may be aware that a police operation was underway in the Beaumaris area on Monday.
The school follows the advice of police and emergency service agencies, and based on the actions of Victoria Police, there was no risk to students. We wish to advise the school community that our students’ safety is our first priority.
It is important that we continue to educate the children on ‘Stranger Danger’ and make sure that the children who are commuting to school do so with other children and not alone. The staff will reinforce the message with the children and we would ask parents to continue to have conversations with their children about keeping safe.

Susan is an expert in the area of cyber safety and young people. Two Minute Zone – The 2 minute zone applies form 7.30am-9.15am and 3.00pm-4.15pm. Please be aware that Bayside City Council parking inspectors often patrol this area. Teachers are on duty each day to supervise and this helps ensure students only enter vehicles that are waiting between the designated area (from the parking sign to the beginning edge of the white barricade fence). Please do not encourage your child to approach your vehicle outside this area.
The zone is very efficient and on average, all children are picked up and gone by 3.45pm. Children who are not picked up by then are sent to the office and then on to Their Care. We appreciate that some delays cannot be helped and are grateful that parents always call.
