Sport, Sport, Sport
Congratulations to Miss Chisholm and the interschool sport hockey team for moving through to regional finals in the coming weeks.
Fantastic effort by all students in Year 3-6 who participated in our annual Athletics Carnival. The weather was kind, and our students full of enthusiasm. Many thanks to Mr Ancrum, the teachers who helped with early morning set up, and the many parents who volunteered time to help on the day. Go Dendy!
Ben, Year 3 “I was really excited and hoping to get a ribbon, which I did for some races but not for all. And that didn’t matter.”
Ivy, Year 3 “I was happy and enjoyed the 200 metre sprint the most”
Chris, Year 6 “I really enjoyed racing and seeing everyone participate. It was fun beating the teachers at the end”
Poppy, Year 6 “It was fun to do all the different events”
Tess, Year 6 “I liked seeing the Brighton Secondary students help because it showed what we could do when we get to high school. It was nice that we already know the school”.
P-2 did not miss out, and participated in their own sports day at school, facilitated by Kaboom Sports. Many thanks to Alison Coutts for organising this event.
Sarayu, Prep “It was funny when we had to dance and we won the dance off”
Anastasia, Prep “I got to work with people I know in Year 1 and 2”
Archie, Year 1 “I really liked the spinning wheel because you got to do push ups, sit ups and fortnight dancing”
Victoria, Year 1 “I liked throwing the balls at the big blackboard, it was really fun”
Charlie, Year 2 “I enjoyed helping the Year 1s and preps as team captain”
Marlowe, Year 2 “I enjoyed packing up and helping the Kaboom people”.
Don’t forget to join us this Saturday at Trevor Barker Oval, Sandringham at 2.10pm to cheer on our football team at the annual Community Cup versus Brighton PS. Go Dreamers!
Interested in knowing what’s happening in the classroom? In your child’s class, or across the school in general? Please visit our level blogs on compass by clicking on the star at the top of your screen. The blogs are regularly updated by our teachers.
Year 3-6 ICAS via Compass
Please sign your child up to participate in the ICAS competitions via compass. This year we are only participating in the competition offered online. There is also a clash between the Year 3 Mathematics date and Year 3 camp. As the ICAS dates are not decided by the school we will be unable to participate in this competition this year.
Parent Only Workshop
Please rsvp by consenting to the Compass Event for David Anderson’s parenting workshop ‘Be Curious, Not Furious’ this Monday. Your consent will notify us of your attendance not your child’s. See you there!
Student Led Conferences:
Time slots can now be booked via Compass Conferences to participate in a three-way meeting between yourself, your child and the classroom teacher. This is a way to provide feedback and share the learning that has taken place so far this year. This commences on the opening night of the Art Show, Tuesday September 3rd.
Each year we invite parents to share particular concerns that may assist to inform class placements for next year. Should your child have particular learning needs that require consideration for class placement in 2020, please put these in writing and email firstname.lastname@example.org the office by the end of this term, 20th of September. Please also notify the office if your child will not be returning to BBPS for 2020.
