Welcome back everyone and a special welcome back to our Year 6 students and families for their final term at BBPS!
Social Activism and Climate Change - Several students from BBPS participated in the Walk For Climate Change at the end of last term, joining many Australian students along with their families to protest climate change inaction.
Finn, Year 2:- It was crowded, with thousands of people. I think it was important that I went to help save the world, to make it a better place for people and their kids.
Nico, Year 5:- “Everyone knows that burning fossil fuels destroys our planet. Some people deny this fact. These deniers block the changes we need to be sustainable and this is annoying. The climate strike was a way for me to express my alarm and annoyance with these people.
The march was poorly organised and we stood around for hours but it did give me a chance to express myself and it was nice to be surrounded by 150,000 likeminded people. The march started at Treasury Gardens and then went through the streets of the city. It felt good walking down the middle of the city streets with no cars.”
Harper, Year 4: - It was good that everyone was supporting the environment and I hope the government will make a change as there is no planet B.
Division Athletics - A big congratulations to the many students who participated in this week’s Division Athletics, and to the number of students who are through to Regionals next week. Results will be in the newsletter next week.
Also, special congratulations to Amy who came 5th (and reached a new personal best) in Long Jump at the SSA Track & Field championships in Darwin. An outstanding achievement.
Gratitude in Term 3 - Last term our Year 5 and 6 students practised GEM (gratitude, empathy and mindfulness) daily, reflecting on what they were grateful for in life. Thank you to Ed (prep) and Jules (Year 5) for diligently collecting these reflections each day. Year 3 and 4 will be reflecting this term.
