Term 2 Week 5



NAPLAN

Congratulations to the Grade 3 and 5 students for their completion of NAPLAN over the past two weeks. Results will be shared with families when the school receives them. Many thanks to the teaching team who supported our students through the process.

PARENT HELPER SESSION

Thanks to our families who attended our second parent helper session last week, facilitated by Shanti Treloar and Bev May.

All relevant policies are now available to access. Please note that following last night’s School Council Meeting there have been some changes to our Visitors / Volunteers Policy, as detailed in the Policy section of this newsletter.

EDUCATION WEEK

EDUCATION WEEK is next week. With a state-wide theme of ‘Building Connections’ we look forward to sharing our enthusiasm for 'all things about learning' with you as part of the education celebration.

Monday – Grade 6 are off to the Halogen Leadership Conference.

TuesdayClassrooms are open for a visit, 3:30-5:30 for families with the surname A-L.

The Grade 2-6 Choir will be performing at 5:15 at the front of the school. (Students in the Choir may also visit their classrooms this afternoon, regardless of surname)

Prep 2022 Information Evening

Prep 2022 information night for families wanting to know more about BBPS @ 7pm in the CLC. See newsletter flyer for more details.

Thursday - Classrooms are open for a visit, 3:30-5:00 for families with the surname M-Z.

Year 5&6 families are invited to a movie session, 5-6pm, supporting the implementation of our Respectful Relationships curriculum. Please see the flyer in our newsletter for more information, and register your attendance by Monday Registration Form. (5/6 students attending this movie may also visit their classrooms on Thursday, regardless of surname).

Online parent session offered, in partnership with Beaumaris PS and Kristy Lang, focusing on unpacking content in the curriculum areas of gender identity and positive gender relationships (See flyer in 'Community News' of this newsletter for more details).

  • When:Thursday 27th May 6.30-7.30pm (this session will also be recorded)

  • Where: Virtual session via Webex link: https://eduvic.webex.com/meet/hollowood.ellen.g

  • Cost: Free of charge

Our week-long event is a COVID-Safe Public Event. Please support us to stay safe by doing the following:

  • Enter and exit using the various gates that are open to ensure social distancing (gates on both Exon and Windermere will be open).

  • Follow signage re social distancing and hand hygiene advice.

  • Sign in using the QR code available at every classroom door, and school gate.

  • Hand sanitise upon entry to the school building / classroom.

  • Stay home if you are unwell.

  • Should you feel unwell and display symptoms while onsite, please see a staff member for support.

DREAMERS 2021- The Brighton Community CUP

The Dreamers need you!

Training is up and running, and recruitment continues, for those who would like to join our Dad’s Footy Team. After not happening in 2020 the annual match against Brighton PS. is back !

This is a special ten year anniversary celebration of this event. A tribute game inclusive of past legends this event is all about community spirit and and raising much needed funds for our two schools. So if you want to improve your fitness levels and coordination skills start by attending the weekend practice sessions and bring the kids. Save the date... August 7th at Brighton Grammar Senior Oval. We thank Pat for his support in ensuring the return of this much loved community fundraising event.

A WORD FROM SCHOOL COUNCIL

The School Council would like to thank our Parent Association for the resurgence of fundraiser events this year - to all our members, we appreciate your tireless efforts and enthusiasm to support our community to connect and be involved.

In particular, we are excited to confirm that the Mother's Day Lunch raised $4,837.98 and would like to acknowledge the work of Jenny Ermogenis as Events Coordinator and the organising team of Year 6 parents for holding such a successful event. Stay tuned for more events as we emerge from the shut down year of 2020. We appreciate any efforts of our parents to be involved and realise (Thanks to Sally and Nat) that for our Year One Parents along with our prep Parents this is a first for them too.

Next up is our Bi-annual Walk-a-thon.

This event is held every second year. Many thanks to Viv Vlantis for her coordination of this event - please reach out to her if you are able to help at all.
