Welcome to Term 4 2022

Welcome back for the final term of 2022. It is hard to believe we are in term 4 and very soon we will be celebrating the conclusion to another productive year at BBPS - and saying farewell to our stellar Grade 6 Class of 2022. Along with their children many parents are doing the start of something at BBPS for the very last time. "It is the last beginning of Term 4 at BBPS for the Korfiatis Family" Mary and Peter.

We welcomed four new families to BBPS, and to our community. Whether from overseas or moving to the city from the country any move is a lot of work. We wish them well as they continue to settle in.

We hope that everyone had a refreshing and relaxing break and is feeling settled and energized for the final term of 2022.

The last day for all students is Friday 16th of December. Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th are curriculum and planning days. Theircare will be available on these days.

COVID-19 isolation requirements have changed

The Victorian Government has announced the end of the Pandemic Declaration and associated Pandemic Orders. The following settings, based on advice from the Department of Health, now apply as of 11.59pm Wednesday 12 October 2022.

It is strongly recommended that students:

  • who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days

  • should not attend school after 5 days if still symptomatic

  • who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school

  • advise the school of the COVID-19 positive test result

Where students become symptomatic at school they should:

  • be collected by their parents/carers

  • undergo testing at home for COVID-19

Reporting positive COVID-19 test results

The Department of Health recommends that a person who tests positive for COVID-19 should inform those with whom they have recently been in contact, including their workplace, schools and household.

Parents and carers will therefore be asked to continue to report positive student COVID-19 cases by informing the school by phone or written notification.

Face masks

Staff and students who wish to wear a face mask should be supported to do so, and schools should continue to make face masks available for staff, students and visitors.

The Department of Health recommends that masks should be worn by a person who is a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 when leaving home.

Additionally, the Department of Health recommends that masks should be worn by a person who has COVID-19, for at least 7 days after a positive test, when they need to leave home.

School Year 2023: Thank you to the families that have notified us that they will not be attending BBPS in 2023. If your child who will not be returning in 2023, please let the admin office know ASAP, as this will assist with planning for next year.

2023 Class Placement

When developing individual classes each year, teachers consider several factors including academic ability, social competencies, gender, students who work well together, those who may not work well together and friendship groupings.

As per our Class Placement Policy, should you have any specific requests based on the learning needs of your child, please email these to Bev via the admin office by the end of October for further consideration. Requests will not be considered after this date. Naming a specific teacher or nominating other students based on friendship will not be considered.

The placement of students is a complex process where teachers put great thought into their planning. They discuss, reflect, and review their decisions over a period of time, with the wellbeing of all students in mind. We thank you in advance for trusting our judgement and valuing our teachers professional perspective.
